The MCA Innovation Center hosted Demo Day that gave the opportunity to healthcare professionals to present the products they worked on throughout the Nurse Innovator Accelerator program. Healthcare professionals completed this intensive program that assisted them with transforming their ideas into products for the clinical setting. The program ended with healthcare professionals presenting their ideas to a panel of experienced professionals in healthcare and innovation. The panel provided feedback on how these ideas could be improved and opportunities for collaboration.
Over 40 people attended the hybrid event that featured 7 presenters from the program. Healthcare professionals presented products such as a seizure monitoring device created by a registered nurse who had experience treating patients with seizures. Other healthcare professionals presented the idea of a self-management tool, disinfecting hand dryer and a redesigned surgical forceps. One team in the program even developed an educational system for public health nursing courses that are integrated with informatics.
The Nurse Innovator Accelerator is impacting healthcare and improving the lives of patients and providers in the region. The MCA Innovation Center is encouraging healthcare professionals to apply for the next cohort. Applications for the second cohort open January 31, 2021, and training and services will start spring 2022. The program is free and open to all healthcare professionals including nurses, doctors, and more.
