One way the MCA keeps stakeholders connected is through our designation of Honorary and Institutional Directors—these are leaders and representatives of regional organizations from whom we welcome input and guidance toward the MCA’s mission and goals. Our Honorary and Institutional Directors come from a broad representation of offices and organizations that includes elected officials, representatives from the education and health care sectors, and community leaders.
The MCA Foundation is active in many local, regional, state and national events. Our representatives recently attended the 2018 South by Southwest (SXSW) conference in Austin to spread word about the MCA Innovation Center in the Cardwell Collaborative, and activities of our resident startups. In 2017, the MCA hosted a one-day symposium, “The Future of the Medical Device Industry in El Paso and Juarez,” drawing nearly 200 attendees.
As part of its mission to develop and catalyze the life sciences ecosystem in the Paso del Norte region, the MCA Foundation is bringing together area manufacturers, startups, academic institutions and government and nonprofit organizations under the umbrella of BIO El Paso/Juarez, a regional biomedical industry trade association.
