The Medical Center of the Americas Foundation (MCA) has been awarded a transformative $10,000 grant from the Electric Company Charitable (ECC) Foundation in support of the MCA STEM Program. The ECC Foundation’s generous contribution to the MCA STEM program directly aligns with their education giving priority to bolster the development of innovative educational initiatives and STEM programs.

The MCA is pleased to receive the ECC Foundation’s grant award and put it towards the MCA STEM program to create a meaningful impact for our region’s youth through participation in STEM camps. The MCA STEM program aims to foster a strong STEM regional workforce, introducing our community’s middle school students to STEM concepts and career paths. By focusing on hands-on learning with real-world applications STEM camps engage students and spark an interest in STEM occupations. Thanks to the ECC Foundation’s support, the MCA STEM program can continue to host STEM camps, positively impacting the trajectory of our region’s youth and cultivating a skilled regional workforce.

Since its establishment in 2019, the MCA STEM Innovation Lab has been providing middle school students with immersive experiences in STEM fields through engaging hands-on activities that promote critical thinking and develop problem solving skills. MCA STEM Camps have already made a significant impact, serving over 1,200 students from 29 schools and 5 school districts throughout the region.

The MCA recently completed two week-long STEM camps, which took place in July. We are excited to announce another camp scheduled for the fall intersession on October 10-13.
