STARTUP Lab: Funding

This session of STARTUP Labs will be hosted through the webinar platform GoToMeeting. Upon purchase of a ticket, you will be provided a link to sign up for the webinar viewing. When clicking through to the link, the website will prompt you to download the GoToMeeting desktop app software. You can go ahead and do so to participate in the webinar or you can opt to call in through the phone number instead provided through email upon webinar registration. If you opt to participate through phone only, please note that you will not have access to any presentations or handouts provided through the webinar platform.
Most startups will need external funding at some time in their development. This session will provide an overview of the various financing options available to startups, discuss how venture capital and how to be prepared for external investment. Topics to be covered include:
- Equity and Capitalization
- Valuation, Dilution, and Growth
- Bootstrapping Your Startup
- Intro to VC's, Angels, and Investment
This class will be taught by Erik Pavia, Entrepreneur in Residence at the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation. Erik has a BBA from UT El Paso and a law degree from Stanford University. He is the founder of Pantheon and an adjunct professor at UTEP where he teaches a business law course focused on new tech ventures.
