JJ and Erik, co-founders of the Techquila podcast, will share their journey creating a tech-centered podcast, best practices, and lessons learned along the way. Attendees can expect to learn about the importance of media format, developing the audience for innovation and tech-related media, and how to leverage media authority to foster innovation.

Dr. Chalil Madathil, Assistant Professor of Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) and Luis Ochoa, Manager, 3D Printing and Manufacturing Services, W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) will discuss how they have developed relationships between their research centers and companies.  This leads to the larger discussion of the difference between research and innovation, and how research can be promoted to fuel innovation, what works and what doesn’t.

Emma Schwartz President of the Medical Center of the Americas Foundation and a member of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board will talk about how leadership can fuel innovation, focusing on values and best practices to leverage and steer strong leadership. She will discuss pitfalls, what to avoid, and lessons learned when taking initiative both inside and outside one’s own organization. We will also consider how to grow as an innovative leader, and what opportunities are available regionally for leaders.

He will identify through examples how innovation games could be implemented to solve complex problems, help develop partnerships, and work through user and customer identification.
