Entrepreneur in Residence
David Novick led entrepreneurship programs for ten years at the University of Texas at El Paso, where he co-founded and co-directed the Mike Loya Center for Innovation and Commerce. At UTEP, he chaired the Department of Computer Science and later served as Professor of Engineering Education and Leadership and as the Mike Loya Distinguished Chair in Engineering. In his career, Dr. Novick published 135 refereed journal articles and conference papers, served as PI, co-PI, or author on grants and contracts totaling about $16 million, and holds a U.S. patent. He has served as a consultant or mentor for many companies, including Intel and Mentor Graphics, has guided dozens of start-up project teams, and is a certified Strategic Doing workshop leader. Dr. Novick earned his J.D. at Harvard Law School and his Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Oregon. He is a retired member of the Oregon State Bar and an active member of the District of Columbia Bar.
